Industries / Energy

In the energy industry, national policies have an impact on the strategic regulations of each company, and the two most recent policy trends are changes in the competitive environment due to deregulation of electricity and optimization of the energy mix to reduce CO2 emissions.

In the past, a single company was responsible for power generation, transmission, distribution, and sales, but deregulation of the power industry has led to major structural changes and the emergence of players specializing in different functions. In the sales business, there is competition to gain market share, and in the power generation business, there are additional costs associated with the discontinuation of coal-fired thermal power generation and the restart of renewable energy and nuclear power plants, which increases the risk of worsening profitability for major companies. In the short term, it will be necessary to improve the profit structure and generate funds for medium- and long-term investments, including the development of service menus and provision of customer experience in the sales business, improvement of power generation efficiency in the power generation business, and improvement of operational efficiency such as maintenance and inspection in the transmission and distribution business. Major electric power companies are beginning to take initiatives in this area.

Point Of View

ExaWizards of point of view

At ExaWizards, we aim to utilize technology for sustainable growth in the midst of changing political policy trends. We are working on solving social issues in this domain from the following four perspectives.
(1)Improving the productivity of existing operations by making power supply smarter using algorithms based on data, environmental factors, and veteran know-how from conventional systems.
(2)Improving UX through advanced use of customer data, such as power-saving proposals and CO2 visualization/reduction proposals.
(3)Control and network optimization of distributed power sources with functions such as improving the efficiency of renewable energy generation through environmental sensors and optimizing supply and demand by forecasting the generation of distributed power sources.
(4)Accelerate R&D of new businesses through digitalization using existing assets, such as BtoB development of maintenance and inspection services for power generation facilities and development of local lifestyle platforms.
