AI Governance
As an AI leading company, we recognize our responsibility and are advancing both customer AX promotion and AI-driven management within our organization. While accelerating AI utilization across our business operations, we are committed to appropriately identifying and managing risks associated with AI, and building AI governance that serves as an industry benchmark.
Specifically, we have established guidelines for the use of generative AI within our organization, clarifying standards that all employees must follow. In parallel, we strengthen organizational education through our "Generative AI Proficiency Test"—a product offering in our AI Products business—to measure employees' understanding of AI risks, as well as through security training programs. These initiatives foster heightened risk awareness and appropriate AI usage practices throughout the company.
Concurrently, we emphasize not only "defensive" governance but also an "offensive" stance. Our Technical Strategy Office, reporting directly to the CEO, and our newly established subsidiary "Exa Interaction Design Lab," conduct early verification of cutting-edge AI technologies, including new LLMs, within sandboxed environments. In these initiatives, we rigorously manage risks while actively exploring the potential of innovative technologies and pursuing business opportunities—balancing prudent risk management with ambitious innovation.
At the core of our AI governance is the "Committee on the Appropriateness of AI," established in 2023. The committee comprises both external experts and internal members with diverse professional expertise spanning technology, law, ethics, management, and social responsibility—not limited to technical perspectives alone. The committee regularly reviews the appropriateness of AI systems developed and deployed by our company, and provides recommendations to create an environment where all stakeholders can utilize AI with confidence. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our AI governance from multiple angles, maintaining transparency and accountability as fundamental principles.
Compliance
To us, compliance means more than following written rules such as laws, ordinances, and internal policies. It also means following professional ethics and the standards society expects, and acting honestly and appropriately as business professionals and members of society. We believe we cannot achieve our mission, "solving social issues through Artificial Intelligence for future generations," unless each officer and employee deeply understands our social responsibility and earns society's trust. We have therefore adopted a Compliance Code. It sets out the most basic principles and standards of conduct that help each officer and employee embody our Mission and Credo (the shared values that guide how we work). The Code applies to every product and service we develop and provide, and to all our other business activities, in every country and region. We promote compliance activities under our Compliance Regulations and other internal rules.
Risk management (key risks)
We identify key risks that could significantly affect our financial position, operating results, and cash flows. We work to prevent these risks and respond quickly when they arise.
We also disclose matters we consider important for investment decisions, even if they do not qualify as business risks.
The Management Meeting (our executive decision-making body under the Board) oversees integrated risk management across the group. The President serves as the officer in charge.
We will continue to assess the likelihood of risks, maintain sound and transparent management, and provide timely disclosure to our stakeholders.
