About AI-Based “CareWiz Hanasuto” Nursing Care Recording Application
[Overview]
”CareWiz Hanasuto” is an AI-based nursing care recording application developed to satisfy the needs of care workers to utilize “talking” in nursing care recording. When a care worker simply says the name of a user of a nursing care service operator or facility and how care is being provided, the AI picks up terms only relevant to nursing care and records them.
Saved records are readily accessible to other workers so that they can easily confirm how much food and water the care receiver has taken, as well as his/her general conditions. Intercom functions are also provided to enable communication between care workers only through voice, without smartphone screen operation. This means that they can use this application as an ICT device even when both hands are occupied providing nursing care.

In addition, CareWiz Hanasuto can be linked to the “CAREKARTE” nursing care recording/billing software provided by Care Connect Japan, which is used in nursing care service providers and facilities as well as social welfare service offices nationwide. After recording with voice using CareWiz Hanasuto, the data can easily be linked to CAREKARTE, which enables complete coverage from nursing care recording to information sharing and claiming for insurance.

Hanasuto can also be linked to monitoring devices. At present, by linking it to Paramount Bed’s monitoring support system, users can confirm information such as changes in condition, respiration rate, and heart rate (estimates calculated from body movements) as notifications on the Hanasuto application.

[Evaluation comment]
In the field of nursing care where labor shortage is a serious challenge with a declining birthrate and aging population also expected in the future, the product has a social significance as it improves the efficiency of indirect clerical work using technologies and gives care workers more time for providing personal human care. Since care workers’ hands are both often occupied during their work, it is reasonable for the AI to catch and record what has been said, and its simply organized UI is also favorable.

About AI-Enabled “CareWiz toruto” Gait Analysis Tool
[Overview]
The AI-enabled “CareWiz toruto” gait analysis tool was developed to support businesses that provide self-reliance support services for elderly people (such as nursing care service providers, medical institutions, and welfare equipment suppliers). This tool captures a video of how elderly people walk with smartphones and other devices and feeds back multiple elements such as the risk of falls after quantifying them. This improves the satisfaction of users and their family members while contributing to information sharing through communication via video among care staff members. Since its launch in 2020, approximately 400 elderly and other facilities have introduced it across Japan at present, with more than 33,000 videos posted.

[Evaluation comment]
In this era of the declining birthrate and aging population, it is a major social issue to extend our healthy life span, and attempts to solve this issue with AI technologies are meaningful in society. Among them, this service focuses risk of falls in elderly people and has achieved gait analysis, which has conventionally required professional diagnosis by physical therapists, with AI-based video analysis using smartphones. AI can work effectively in this area of purpose-specific image analysis, a difficult task for non-professionals, and its well-designed UI/UX for result-based communication with relevant people are also highly evaluated.

About Automatic Photo Service “Torinku”  from VisionWiz
[Overview]
Young children grow so fast that before you know they are already in the next phase of development. Thus, you need to treasure every moment of their growth. Do not miss any opportunity to witness your children’s growth not only when they are with you, but also when they are away from you spending time at preschools or taking enrichment lessons. Taking photographs at every stage of their growth is one way of treasuring moments from their life. However, many preschools and enrichment lesson providers find that photographing children’s everyday lives and activities, sorting photographs taken, and distributing the sorted photos to parents are a huge burden on teachers who are busy with their daily work in the classroom. Further, teachers may unintentionally tend to focus more on some children while taking photographs, which can cause controversy among parents.

Bearing all this in mind, a new method to observe children was developed using an automatic Photo service camera. This led to Automatic Photo service  “Torinku,” which was developed aiming to respond to the voices of (a) classroom staff: “We want to record every moment of children’s growth while offering childcare/educational services and managing the classroom safely and securely,” as well as of (b) parents: “We want to know how our children spend their day in the classroom.”

Photos taken every day are delivered to the parents through “Torinku” by the end of the day on a daily basis. The camera detects every movement and facial expression of the children automatically takes pictures and sorts them. Parents can thus view through these photos their child’s activities at school to which they are not usually privy – in other words, parents can now know how their child behaves in everyday classroom settings, how enthusiastically the child works on a task, how the child tries to do things in the classroom that he/she cannot do at home, etc.

This service has a social significance as it can reduce the burden on teachers working at preschools – places to develop children for future generations. It would increase the burden on teachers, who are already busy with their conventional work, if they have to record how children spend every day at preschools, identify each child, and distribute photos to their parents, all in a fair and equal manner. By saving such work through AI technologies, teachers can use more time for interaction with children.
