CareWiz, an app which helps solve the worries of family caregivers, receives first prize at the SMBC Startup Support Program - Awarded for contributions to solving issues in the care field

This is to notify that ExaWizards Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Ko Ishiyama; hereinafter, “ExaWizards”) received first prize at the SMBC Startup Support Program, hosted by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Makoto Takashima; hereinafter, “SMBC”), for CareWiz, an app which helps solve the worries of family caregivers.

[Reasons for receipt of the award]
CareWiz won this award in recognition of the major contributions it makes to solving issues in the field of care and the ripple effect it generates as a business. Specifically, in addition to functions including explanatory videos enabling the user to learn about the Humanitude^*1 caregiving method, caregiving records and telephone consultations, the app also allows users to collect information on municipal support utilizing AI.

[SMBC Startup Support Program]
 Overview
The SMBC Startup Support Program is open to startup companies across Japan that possess new ideas and innovative technologies. Under this program, SMBC provides promotional support, assistance with raising funds, etc. to startups with services which confront a range of social issues relating to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

309 startups from across Japan applied for the program, which was held for the first time this year. Applicants were screened through a primary selection followed by a secondary selection. Successful candidates then had to give a presentation, which the panel of judges then used to make a final decision. The recipient of the first prize was selected on the basis of such criteria as contributions made to solving social issues, degree of completeness as a product, and the level of ripple effect it generates as a business.

[About CareWiz]
CareWiz is an app developed by ExaWizards which helps solve the worries of family caregivers. The app’s name implies “walking together with people who provide care/people who receive care.” Users of the app can receive a range of support relating to family caregiving through explanatory videos enabling the user to learn about the Humanitude caregiving method, telephone consultations with qualified Humanitude-accredited instructors, and access to services related to dementia through a search function which utilizes AI.

*1: Humanitude® is a method of caregiving based on comprehensive sensory, emotional and verbal communication, created by French physical education experts Yves Gineste and Rosette Marescotti in 1979. It is founded on a philosophy that questions what it is to be a caregiver, as well as what it is to be human, along with practical techniques based on this philosophy. ExaWizards has entered into a collaboration with SAS Humanitude (Headquarters: France; Legal representative: Yves Gineste) to plan and administer Japan’s only official Humanitude training.
