ExaWizards starts providing “HR-kun 1on1,” an online 1on1 support service, on a trial basis – Providing support for internal communication when teleworking through the AI analysis of 1on1 videos and speech –
On May 14, 2020 (Thu.), ExaWizards Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Ko Ishiyama; hereinafter, “ExaWizards”) started providing “HR-kun 1on1,” an online 1on1 support service, on a trial basis.
Developed through the application of high precision algorithms for video analysis, helping improve the quality of online 1on1
Companies are promoting the introduction of teleworking as a means of helping prevent the spread COVID-19. But this new workstyle has also created issues, including increasing stress due to working from home, as well as fewer opportunities for people to engage in casual conversation. Amid this, 1on1 meetings held online are providing a precious opportunity for bosses and workers to communicate and understand one another, even when teleworking.
“HR-kun 1on1” is an online 1on1 support service that helps turn advice into feedback and enables high-quality communication among teleworkers, which it achieves through the AI analysis of 1on1 videos and speech. In developing this service, ExaWizards applied high precision algorithms for video analysis for which it had gained a proven track record in other projects it has been involved in. This service allows 1on1 to be analyzed quantitatively by using AI to analyze people’s expressions, amount of conversation and voice qualities from online 1on1 videos and speech (the linguistic content of speech is not covered by this service). Both parties participating in online 1on1 refer to feedback reports, which allows the state of communication to be perceived objectively and can be used to make improvements.
In addition, it also provides advice on how to communicate better, such as by suggesting that the user be aware of the kinds of questions that the other person will be able to answer freely, or to speak a little more slowly. By doing so, it aims to help improve the quality of communication in online 1on1 along with productivity and engagement among employees when they are teleworking.
Features of HR-kun 1on1: Analysis of people’s expressions, amount of conversation and voice qualities through AI
- Analysis and quantification of videos and speech. Provision of advice according to the indicators and results expressing the quality of 1on1
This service carries out quantitative analysis of the content of 1on1 by using AI to analyze people’s expressions, amount of conversation and voice qualities from online 1on1 videos and speech. Advice created by International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential-holders on how to achieve better communication is then provided according to the results of analysis.
- Clarification of the topics employees would like to discuss with their bosses by filling out a sheet before and after the conversation
Employees can fill out a sheet before the conversation detailing the topics they would like to discuss, enabling their bosses to clarify the topic of the 1on1. Following the conversation, both boss and employee fill out a further sheet to record their impressions of the conversation, thus helping visualize whether or not there are any gaps in communication.
- Centralized control of the content of all 1on1 held to date through a dashboard
A function is due to be added in the future to allow data on the content of 1on1 to be referenced in chronological order, and to review what kind of content was mentioned and when through a dashboard. By enabling supervisors or mentors to gain an overall grasp of the volume and quality of 1on1, the company will be able to make the necessary adjustments to its management as an organization.
