This enhances inspection work and quality control traditionally performed by humans in both efficiency and uniformity.
The use of large models allowed for rapid deployment, from dataset creation to original AI model development. We are considering speedy development and deployment of AI models for other applications.

The exterior car inspection automation system allows AI to automatically detect scratches and dents by taking pictures of the car’s surroundings with a regular camera and uploading the photos. Uploading information such as the car’s brand name, model name, and grade name at the same time can result in more accurate identification.
This system is being considered for use in recycling and re-use of automobiles in collaboration with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Steel Products Division), who is promoting circular economy initiatives based on “creating a society in harmony with the environment.” Automating this inspection work will reduce the burden on inspectors and eliminate variations in inspection results due to differences in experience and skills.

This new AI model can be applied in areas outside of exterior inspections, such as automobile appraisals and building damage evaluations.
