75% of the Students Agreed if Advantages are Clearly Stated while Those who Disagreed Less Than 5%
– “Less effort,” “matching with companies” “feedback” and “low turnover rate” are expected
The “Study Group on the Utilization of Personal Data/Technologies in HR” hosted by ExaWizards Inc., a company that develops AI (artificial intelligence)-enabled services to solve social issues (hereafter, “ExaWizards”; headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Ko Ishiyama) and Persol Holdings Co., Ltd., which provides total human resource services (hereafter, “Persol Holdings; headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Takao Wada) conducted the 2nd “Awareness Survey on the Use of Data in Job Hunting” and summarized the results as described below.
This Study Group has been conducting awareness surveys on the use of data among job-hunting students, together with other companies and experts. This time, following the 1st survey last year, we conducted the 2nd survey to discuss the use of personal data/technologies, how to improve convenience and understanding and how to promote their appropriate use in companies.

Overview of the results of the 2nd “Awareness Survey on the Use of Data in Job Hunting”
☑︎Agreement/disagreement to the use of data in job hunting
– Overall, the percentage of those who agree (top three boxes) increased from 56.8% in FY 2020 to 58.7% in FY 2021, while that of those who disagree (bottom three boxes) decreased from 11.2% in FY 2020 to 10.6% in FY 2021.
– When the use of data offers advantages for students, the percentage of those who agree (top three boxes) increased from 72.8% in FY 2020 to 74.6% in FY 2021, and that of those who disagree (bottom three boxes) also increased from 4.0% in FY 2020 to 4.3% in FY 2021.
☑︎What students expect or they think they could expect from the use of data in job hunting
– Top answers were “less effort (no use of entry sheets)” before selection, “improved matching with companies (the use of data shows whether they are compatible with companies or decreases mismatches)” during selection process, “feedback of selection results” after selection and “decrease in turnover rate due to mismatches)” after entering companies.
☑︎What students feel anxious or concerned about the use of data in job hunting
– Top answers were concerns about the possibility that companies would evaluate students without seeing the persons themselves (evaluation based on prejudice, or not directly evaluating the persons themselves) and about transparency in the use of information (which information will be used, or use of information even when they do not want it to be used).
