ExaWizards Provides an AI Model for Kansai Electric Power Group’s Distributed Energy Operations Business – AI Promotes GX by Optimizing Market Transactions Based on Supply/Demand and Electricity Prices to Making Effective Use of Distributed Storage Batteries –

ExaWizards Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Makoto Haruta; hereafter, “ExaWizards”) will provide E-Flow LLC (Chuo-ku, Osaka; hereinafter “E-Flow”) with an AI model for trading electricity from distributed grid storage batteries*. This AI model optimizes grid storage battery businesses by accounting for a variety of data and conditions, such as electricity supply and demand.
*Grid storage batteries are connected to power grids to stabilize power grids.

ExaWizards is using AI to optimize energy and resource use, achieve decarbonization and energy conservation goals, implement Green Transformation (GX), and solve social issues.

☑Initiative Background
E-Flow, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO), launched in April 2023 based on the distributed service platform “K-VIPs+.” Their goal is to achieve a market transaction volume of 2.5 million kW and sales of 30 billion yen for distributed resources nationwide by FY2030. They hope to contribute to decarbonization efforts and the stabilization of electricity supply and demand by centrally managing their customers’ distributed energy resources to optimize their operations and electricity market transactions.

ExaWizards has been conducting joint research and development with KEPCO on how to use AI in distributed energy resource operations since 2021. Now that the AI model can be used in actual operations, ExaWizards will apply it to the grid storage batteries field in FY2023.

☑Expected Effects
E-Flow handles daily electricity market bids and plans submissions on behalf of distributed energy resources, including their customers’ grid storage batteries. Their distributed service platform will continue to collect and manage data on operations, supply and demand, forecasting, and transactions.

AI model will analyze this data to contribute to the decarbonization and stabilization of electricity supply and demand by optimizing operations, market transactions, and our customers’ operational profitability.

E-Flow plans to expand the use of AI to other energy resources in the future.
