Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education Adopts “exaBase Generative AI”
-Issued IDs to each Student and Teacher at 9 Metropolitan Schools Use for AI Literacy Instruction, School Work, etc-

Exa Enterprise AI Inc.(Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Takuma Oue; hereafter, “Exa Enterprise AI”), a group company of ExaWizards Inc, is pleased to announce that the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education has adopted our Generative AI service. Nine metropolitan senior high schools, secondary schools (second semester), and special-needs schools (upper division) have adopted our “exaBase Generative AI powered by GPT-4” (hereinafter referred to as “exaBase Generative AI”), which offers enhanced functions such as input/output information security and usage management, to conduct classes and improve generative AI literacy. The use of this system in classes is a rare initiative in Japan.

By providing generative AI services and products to improve the productivity of Japanese companies and organizations, Exa Enterprise AI aims to create a society where people can unlock their potential and face new challenges.

☑︎Background of Introduction and Use
In September 2023, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched a pilot program to use generative AI at metropolitan high schools, secondary schools (second semester), and special-needs schools (upper division). These nine schools were designated as generative AI research schools.

exaBase Generative AI was introduced at each school in December of the same year, and individual IDs were issued to students and teachers. They have begun to use the generative AI in literacy education, classes for each subject, and in school affairs.

The following 9 metropolitan schools have introduced the system as “metropolitan school generative AI research schools.”

Ryogoku High School, Koiwa High School, Igusa High School, Hino High School, Sunagawa High School (correspondence course), Tachikawa International Secondary School (latter term course), Sumoto Special Support School (upper division), Komyo Gakuen, and Aotori Special Support School.

On December 21, a class using generative AI was open to the press at Koiwa High School. A basic lesson on the use of generative AI was given in an information science course.

☑About exaBase Generative AI
Since its launch as a paid service in June 2023, the exaBase AI powered by GPT-4, has been adopted by many corporations, organizations, and administrative bodies, with about 30,000 users as of December of the same year. The service takes into account the security and compliance issues that corporations face, enabling administrators to track usage and register prohibited words. By leveraging Microsoft’s “Azure OpenAI Service East Japan Region”, all data is processed within Japan. Customers can also upload their own files for use, with the content of those files enabling interaction and generation.
