ExaWizards Establishes New Company ExaMD, Providing AI Healthcare Services
-ExaMD will Develop Medical Software for Mobile Devices, Starting with Software to Diagnose Dementia

ExaWizards Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Makoto Haruta; hereinafter “ExaWizards”) announces the formation of a new company specializing in the development and sales of AI healthcare services.On April 1, 2024, the company will begin operations as ExaMD Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Koji Hazama; hereinafter “ExaMD”). ExaMD plans to develop programmed medical devices (SaMD) utilizing AI and software technology for healthcare services, starting with dementia diagnosis software for smartphones.

☑Background of the new company
We have nurtured diverse business assets and seeds in the healthcare field (dementia, frailty, locomotive syndrome, etc.) by developing proprietary multi-modal AI technologies, strategically acquiring intellectual property, joint research, clinical research with academia to develop programmed medical devices (SaMD), and joint planning and development with major pharmaceutical companies.  
Medium- and long-term trends in the healthcare field include increasing social security costs, diversifying health and medical needs, and widening regional disparities in medical services. The social implementation of AI digital technologies and services will solve these social issues across industry boundaries. We will create unique product and service groups for cross-industry social implementation while strengthening quality control, data management, and compliance with related laws and regulations. We aim to address and solve social issues through our healthcare businesses. 

☑ New company establishment
ExaWizards plans to transfer the rights and obligations of its business as they relate to multi-modal AI healthcare products and services to ExaMD by means of an absorption-type company split, effective April 1, 2024 (scheduled).
Koji Hazama will be the representative director of ExaMD. He is the executive officer who established the healthcare business at ExaWizards.
After ExaWizrds Split takes effect, ExaMD will develop healthcare products with its proprietary multi-modal AI technology. ExaMD will also develop businesses in other sectors in which it excels, and will promote business development to solve healthcare-related social issues in an aging society with a declining birthrate. 
ExaWizards manages over 350 AI projects a year, primarily for large companies. ExaMD’s business will consist of proposing new products to those clients.

☑New Company Initiatives
ExaMD will take over the programmed medical device for dementia diagnosis (SaMD) business currently under development at ExaWizards. This service will diagnose dementia quickly and easily based on conversation and movement. ExaMD is exploring the possibility of obtaining a business license and early approval to manufacture and sell medical devices. We will announce new developments as they become available.
