Our project has been adopted for “the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP)”

An R&D project proposed by ExaWizards has been adopted in the field of “Nursing Care Support Technology” of the Cabinet Office’s “Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) Second Phase/Big-data and AI-enabled Cyberspace Technologies”. We will work on the creation of various platforms to enhance the connection of technologies and social issues, the development of artificial intelligence to support people (dementia patients and their caregivers), and social demonstration projects that utilize these technologies, in the field of “Care × Artificial Intelligence” as described below.

Adopted theme
R&D and social implementation of AI for self-reliance/coexistence support by multimodal human-interaction technology, focusing on dementia patients and their families

Overview of the research
This research aims to establish human interaction technology to support self-reliance and coexistence of dementia patients through advance collaboration with AI technology and stakeholders in the field of care, focusing on dementia patients and their families.

To be specific, this research involves prototyping of self-reliance/coexistence support AI to comprehend and express the condition of people with dementia and their relation with other people, by establishing a multimodal expression model for memories, integration, cognition, and behavior related to care and by developing dialogue processing technology. The demonstration experiments for this AI are being conducted in conjunction with IoT equipment, sensors and subjective information in approximately twenty local governments.

Through various demonstration experiments, this research will establish an evaluation platform which integrates interaction indicators, medical science indicators, and economic indicators with AI; will widely and deeply collect evidence and empirical knowledge as well as scientific knowledge to improve quality of life of those concerned and reduce social security expenses, and publish such information and develop it horizontally; and thus create “inclusive innovation” in which various people participate across the social system. Furthermore, we aim to create a new business with this AI and expand it in the global market.
