ExaWizards Obtains a Basic Patent for AI Software Development Environment “exaBase Studio” – A system operation platform is automatically constructed based on a blueprint on UI –
ExaWizards Inc., a company that develops AI-enabled services to solve social issues (Headquarters:Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Ko Ishiyama; hereafter, “ExaWizards”) announces that it has obtained a basic patent for the AI software development environment “exaBase Studio.”
The patent granted to ExaWizards this time is for the basic functions of exaBase Studio the company is currently developing. Specifically speaking, an architectural blueprint is automatically created based on the blueprint of an AI software process workflow shown in the user interface to automatically construct a system operation platform in a computing environment such as the cloud.
☑︎Background to Patent Application
In recent years, no-code or low-code software development tools have been provided at various levels, and the user of these tools can more easily develop a system than before. However, they find it difficult to freely develop a system due to constraints specific to these tools, which has made the tools inappropriate for the development of a high-level system.
☑︎Features of the Basic Patent for exaBase Studio
With the technology for which we obtained a patent this time, you can design the entire structure of software/a system by just arranging the image icons of the components that form the system on the UI screen.
You can not only use the components prepared beforehand, but also add new ones whenever necessary by programing, which enables you to more freely develop software/a system. Based on your design, the blueprint of a system operation infrastructure such as the cloud is automatically constructed.
exaBase Studio that will be developed based on this patent realizes the easier and seamless software/system development that encompasses high-level design and the establishment of a system operation infrastructure.
☑︎Patent Overview
Patent number :7170157
Registration Date. :November 2, 2022
Patentee. :ExaWizards
☑︎Things Related to the Patent and exaBase Studio
In relation to the idea about “exaBase Studio” that ExaWizards announced this May, we applied for a patent this time.
exaBase Studio has the easily understandable UI named “Canvas” for AI software development which enables business unit personnel and designers to participate in the design and development of software/a system working with engineers.
With the design output into “exaBase Blueprint,” a domain-specific language for describing the flow of data processing and execution conditions using AI, the function named “Constructor” constructs a system infrastructure in a computing resource such as the cloud.
This allows companies to internally design, develop and operate software/a system. As a result, the time and cost required to build the execution environment and the burden during operation can be reduced compared to outsourcing, raising cost effectiveness.
The patent we obtained this time is for this workflow. (For further information, please refer to “Descriptions about Each Function.”) exaBase Studio currently in the development phase will consist of the major elements specified in the following diagram. The functions of the pilot version offered to some companies are indicated with the dotted line.
Diagram: The whole picture of the patent. The dotted line is the scope of trial provision at this time, and some functions of Machine Learning API and AI model are provided.
☑︎ Development and Distribution of exaBase Studio
Currently, we are developing exaBase Studio aiming to launch the commercial version by March, 2024. As for the function to automatically construct an execution program based on the blueprint of software on the UI screen, we have already started to offer the pilot version to some companies. We have confirmed that the function successfully works with computing resources such as the cloud.
Specifically speaking, a number of companies which promote initiatives to internally develop AI software as well as system integrators have started to introduce/use exaBase Studio on a trial basis. On top of that, currently more than 10 companies are considering the introduction of the program.
We will offer a UI for AI software development going forward so that those belonging to the operating division and top management in a company can use it.
As for license details and price, we will decide step by step before the commercial version is released.(For further information about exaBase Studio: https://exawizards.com/en/archives/19692)
*Descriptions about Each Function
*Palette shows the list of available components of AI, UI, and Software
*You can design the content of data transaction, transaction conditions, and the visualization method of transaction results through Canvas by selecting and arranging software components including AI models. The design is output as exaBase Blueprint.
*exaBase Blueprint is a domain-specific language that serves as a blueprint defining the contents of data processing, the AI model to be used, the execution conditions of the processing, and the visualization of the results.
*Constructor automatically constructs a cloud infrastructure -1), creates links with data sources -2), and builds data transaction functions -3), which are necessary for the realization of the software defined by exaBase Blueprint.
*exaBase Machine Learning API provides the functions to dynamically integrate and execute AI models and collect the results to the cloud infrastructure output by Constructor while presenting the list of AI models executable on Canvas.
”exaBase” and “Constructor” are ExaWizards’ registered trademarks.
