ExaWizards Establishes Committee of Experts on the Suitability of AI

ExaWizards Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Makoto Haruta; hereinafter referred to as “ExaWizards”) announces the establishment of the “Committee of Experts on the Suitability of AI” (hereinafter referred to as “The committee”). The recent explosion of generative AI has triggered an examination of public guidelines, laws, and regulations for AI in Japan and abroad. To ensure that our stakeholders can use our AI with confidence, we have established the committee to reflect the technical perspectives, diverse viewpoints, and expertise in our activities.
☑︎Committee Establishment Background
ExaWizards, under the mission of “creating a happy society by using AI to solve social issues,” develops and operates AI systems and faces social change by providing AI support and services for corporate reform. We are aware that AI implementation can cause anxiety and confusion if it is not used properly. Therefore, we formulated the AI Basic Policy (https://exawizards.com/en/ai-policy/) in April 2023.
Public guidelines, laws, and regulations (such as the Hiroshima AI Process, the European Union AI Regulation Bill and the draft guidelines for AI providers being considered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) are being considered in Japan and overseas to ensure the suitability of AI development and operation.
We believe that there is a need to (1) establish an autonomous and effective AI governance system, (2) build appropriate collaborative relationships with stakeholders, and (3) establish a system to evaluate and verify the social impact of AI.
☑︎The Role of this Committee
The committee will exist independently of the Company’s organization. They will operate the Company’s basic AI policy and make recommendations on suitability evaluation criteria and their operations for each product and project. The committee will make recommendations to the Company’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other management processes as appropriate.

The committee consists of experts in AI, public policy, ethics, law, sociology, and the humanities.

The committee’s first meeting is scheduled for February 2024. It will meet semi-annually thereafter.
